There's many different ways to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Corned beef, cabbage, not getting pinched, a few drinks.
According to Property Causualty, Nationwide, on St. Patrick’s Day, 38% of drivers killed in crashes had a blood alcohol limit higher than .08, and three-quarters of those were at least double that. Here's how to make sure those few Guiness beers don't ruin a perfectly good St. Patrick's Day:
Plan With A Designated Driver Beforehand
Whether you are planning on using a ride-share service or having a family member or friend take the wheel, make sure you know how you plan on getting home safely before heading out to party.
Know The Repurcussions
A DUI in California can cost you hundreds to thousands of dollars. Jail, license suspension, and probation are likely results and consquences are increased by compounding factors like multiple offenses or a unclean driving record.
Remember, Your Insurance WILL Go Up
There are many other factors involved in how a DUI could potentially affect your insurance rates. If you're a responsible driver and qualify for the California Good Driver Discount you will lose the 20% markdown for 10 years! Similar to the legal repercussions of a DUI, your insurance premiums are likely to be negatively affected by multiple offenses and an unclean driving record.
Calling Uber, Lyft or a friend is a decision you'll be happy you made!
