Why do we sponsor a habitat at the Humane Society of Sonoma County?
It began with a fondness for animals within our office and family. As you may know, we house a cacophonous crew of birds, dogs, flirty fish, and sometimes even a cat. Barber's former Marketing Coordinator and family member, Tressa, inspired both Cheryl and Jo to begin volunteering at the Humane Society on Highway 12 with her involvement as a Trainer and Marketing Coordinator there. As Cheryl and Jo eased into their weekly volunteer shifts and found their craft within the shelter, they also found an innate sense of compassion and community there amongst the dogs, staff, and fellow volunteers.
In 2019, we sought an altruistic outlet within our community to collaborate with throughout our 50th year in business. The Humane Society that we were already deeply involved with was the obvious choice. This week we receieved an email update from the shelter that gave us all the feels and warmth, reminding us why we continue to foster this relationship.
A few sentiments from their email comparing 2018 statistics to 2019:
-
238 more animals adopted - that’s a 17% increase!
-
256 more incoming transfer from partners far and wide
-
11 more lost animals reunited with their owners
-
301 more cats and kittens helped
We can't say enough for how smoothly this shelter is run. We are so proud of their continued growth and outreach within the community and thrilled to be involved there. With our one year anniversary of our habitat sponsorship coming up, we can't help but renew it! We look forward to another year of seeing the pooches in our habitat find their forever homes.
