Nothing kicks off the summer season like the 4th of July holiday. It is an enjoyable time that includes all the things we love, such as warmer weather, great food and grand pyrotechnic displays.
The Santa Rosa Fire Department would like to remind residents that the possession, storage, sale, and use of all fireworks is illegal* within the City of Santa Rosa. It is also illegal to purchase "Safe and Sane" fireworks from other cities and bring them to the City of Santa Rosa.
Why Ban Fireworks?
An extreme fire hazard condition related to dried grasses and vegetation has been highlighted by significant fire activity in neighboring counties over the last several years. Approximately 30% of the City of Santa Rosa is located within the Wildland-Urban Interface Fire Area and the use of fireworks in these areas poses a significant threat to our City. We are fortunate to reside in such a beautiful area surrounded by open spaces and wild lands, so please help us keep our City safe by not using fireworks within Santa Rosa or other jurisdictions where they are prohibited.Penalties
Violation of laws regarding dangerous fireworks can result in immediate enforcement action, which could include a citation with fines up to $1,000 or arrest depending on the violation. All fireworks will be considered contraband and confiscated for disposal. How to Report Violations of the City of Santa Rosa's Fireworks Ban
It is imperative that we ask residents to adhere to the fireworks ban and for everyone to work together to prevent fires from impacting our community. To report firework activity, contact the City of Santa Rosa Police Department non-emergency line at 707-528-5222.The 4th of July is a wonderful American tradition; remember to celebrate safely and legally.
