- Document the damage
If it’s safe to do so, take photographs/videos of the damage. Document everything, even if you’re uncertain if the most recent storm caused the damage. - Keep receipts
Save receipts for expenses related to the flood. - Make repairs
Make temporary repairs to prevent further damage to your property. Do not make permanent repairs before an insurance adjuster has inspected the damage. - Keep detailed records
Keep a record of all communications and interactions with your insurance carrier, including the names and titles of the people you speak with.
